Horrors in the Heartland
Hey! It's been a little longer between posts than I'd like, but I've got a few bigger pieces in the works. For now, I've got a new landscape piece complete, another on the way, and some extra stuff that should be fun. For now, another piece in my whole Lovecraftian horror meets real world moments series. So I broke out the moleskin and the watercolors and got to work.
The Dunwich Horror is probably my favorite Lovecraft story. I especially liked the idea of the giant monster that rampages through the little farm community. Here, I just imagine it wandering through some quiet corner of what'd probably be like Wyoming or Utah, some little piece of the middle of nowhere, invisible and gigantic, just roaming the world its meant to destroy.
I'm still playing with this piece on my computer, because, while I do like the way the finished painting looks, the digital piece just doesn't so it proper justice. I'll keep working on it and repost if I can sort out those difficulties.
